Post Hurricane Ida Survey Support

Hurricane Ida, one of the most powerful storms to hit the Gulf Coast, inflicted significant damage across South Louisiana. This collaboration proved to be instrumental in addressing the immediate and critical needs following the hurricane.  Fenstermaker & Associates worked closely with both Air Boat companies and Quanta to conduct comprehensive surveys of inland waterways. This was a critical step to ensure that barges loaded with essential equipment and materials could safely navigate to areas where access points were established. The surveys were vital for mapping out safe routes and identifying potential obstacles that could hinder the transportation of necessary supplies.

To enhance the safety and efficiency of these operations, Fenstermaker utilized advanced technologies, including underwater magnetometers. These devices were pivotal in detecting and marking underwater anomalies, such as submerged debris or hidden structures, which could potentially obstruct the navigation of barges through these channels. When a pipeline was detected during these surveys, Fenstermaker would utilize specialized pipeline locating equipment to collect precise data on water depths and determine the depth at which the pipeline resided.
