Fenstermaker was the lead engineer on this mine expansion project conducted for Morton Salt. Fenstermaker’s Engineering team provided structural engineering of support and access structures for conveyors, surge bins, measuring flasks, metal detectors, and other equipment to facilitate expansion of mine into a lower level.
The structural tower and loading equipment was modeled in 3D to verify equipment tolerances from multiple vendors and check access to working points from walkways, stairs and ladders. The design of pedestal foundations and shaft reinforcement components called for the use of reinforced concrete and epoxy anchor bolting. The Fenstermaker team conducted a structural analysis of support towers, loading bins, and foundations and prepared construction and fabrication drawings and specifications.
