Originally commissioned by Shell to provide a route survey for a proposed pipeline, Fenstermaker began working with CenterPoint Energy after the company took over control of the project from Shell. With an existing network of pipelines, CenterPoint needed to strategically place a 4-mile lateral southeast of Mansfield, LA, to transport their natural gas to a plant for distribution. Since CenterPoint employs its own team of surveyors, Fenstermaker’s involvement with the project became uncertain after the exchange. However, after our Survey & Mapping Division demonstrated Fenstermaker’s diverse repertoire of services and commitment to excellence, CenterPoint entrusted Fenstermaker to continue the work.

Fenstermaker’s responsibilities included locating property corners, computing and staking the route’s centerline, finding the centerline profile of elevation, and establishing construction staking of the pipeline and its components. As CenterPoint was eager to transport their natural gas, Fenstermaker worked diligently to keep the project on the fast track. Furthermore, a contaminant was discovered in CenterPoint’s proposed route, so Fenstermaker took on the challenge of conducting additional surveys to generate a new route for the pipeline.
