2015
In 2015, the Korte Company was looking to construct a new Veterans Administration (VA) Clinic in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The Korte Company, being based out of Illinois, did not have any local knowledge or contacts from which to draw from. As such, they looked to Fenstermaker to provide professional services for the project because of their experience in working in the City of Lake Charles and their diverse set of services.
Fenstermaker kicked off the project by performing a detailed ALTA survey of the project site that was used to acquire the land that the Douglas Fournet Department of Veterans Affairs Clinic would be built on. The ALTA survey consisted of 5 days of detailed field survey combined with 3 months of data processing, plat creation, and client coordinate before producing the final ALTA survey document.
Prior to the construction of the project, Fenstermaker was asked to set 2 primary benchmarks for the construction contractor. In order to complete this activity Fenstermaker utilized GPS static observations and high-accuracy digital levels to produce coordinate values that exceeded the allowable tolerances required by the project specifications. While construction progressed forward, Fenstermaker utilize the benchmarks to assist the Korte Company in reviewing the construction progress. This included the placement of building foundations and the placement of anchor bolts used to secure the building’s steel structural columns.
