This pipeline system covered approximately 270 miles and stretched from Mont Belview, TX to Napoleonville, LA. Fenstermaker was awarded a 52-mile segment of this system which ran through St. Martin, Iberville and Ascension Parishes, Louisiana. Within those parishes, a portion of the segment’s route traversed through the Atchafalaya Basin making it one of the most challenging segments to survey.
During the preliminary phase of the project, Fenstermaker collected all field information including but not limited to elevations, access roads, hazards, underground utilities, and property boundary information that was used to create construction documents, alignment sheets, acquisition plats, permit drawings and exhibits. When the project moved into construction, Fenstermaker remobilized to the project site and staked the pipeline centerline and workspaces for the construction contractor. As construction activities progressed, Fenstermaker collected detailed information such as geographic coordinates of all pipeline segments, welds, fittings, bends, valves, sleeves, vents, and HDD start and end points. Upon completion of construction activities, all data was compiled and incorporated into as-built alignment sheets utilizing Skyline software. These as-built alignment sheets will serve as the client’s record for any future upgrades, modifications, tie-ins, and other maintenance activities.
