C. H. Fenstermaker & Associates is excited to welcome Robert Leslie, P.E., CFM, into the family. Robert brings 30 years of experience in environmental engineering, hazard mitigation, and a whole lot more to the Water Resources team in his new role as Senior Engineer.
Prior to joining Fenstermaker, Robert spent decades building an impressive skill set in hydrology and hydraulics, engineering design, infrastructure assessment, environmental regulatory compliance, aquatic chemistry, FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP), and FEMA National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).
After contributing to vital engineering and hazard management programs across four states in the U.S., Mexico, Malaysia, Haiti, and Puerto Rico, Robert settled in the great state of Louisiana. There, he had opportunities to meet and work with members of the Fenstermaker team, including Gary O’Neal, who was one of several colleagues eager to recruit Rob into the Fenstermaker fold. Robert was attracted to Fenstermaker’s diversified knowledge base, workforce, and long-standing reputation.
Robert’s extensive experience in environmental consulting, wastewater management, environmental characterization, risk assessment, and corrective action program design, along with his enthusiasm for improving communities through disaster mitigation makes him a great fit for the Water Resources team under Engineering Director, Jeanne Arceneaux Hornsby, M.S., P.E., CFM.
Jeanne has this to say about Robert: “We are so excited to add Robert Leslie to our Fenstermaker Water Resources team. He brings to us his expertise in Benefit Cost Analysis (BCA) and implementation of Hazard Mitigation Grants Programs (HMGP) projects. This experience will be such an asset to our clients as we work with many of them on disaster recovery efforts.”
Robert holds a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Tulane University. He holds certification in Floodplain Management and Professional Engineering Licensure in the states of California, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas.
When he’s not hard at work, Rob is spending quality time with his family, or fueling his passion for airplane flying. He earned his private pilot license (single engine, land) about 10 years ago and sums up his hobby this way, “It’s the most fun thing ever. Period.”
Robert also served as Assistant Adjunct Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Louisiana State University.
Welcome to the team, Robert!
