Kelly Rhodes, Executive Assistant and Office Manager for Fenstermaker, has passed the State of Louisiana Notary Qualifying Examination on December 15, 2018. Ms. Rhodes traveled to Louisiana State University in Alexandria for the five-hour exam and completed the test in four hours. She received notification from the Louisiana State University, Office of Academic Affairs on January 10, 2019, that she passed the State of Louisiana Notary Qualifying Examination. The overall pass rate for the Notary Qualifying Examination in Louisiana is only 23%.
Ms. Rhodes enrolled in the BLAW204 Notary Public course at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and completed the Fall, 2018 semester with a 4.0 grade point average. She completed over 170+ hours of preparation and study for the Louisiana State notarial examination. She was sworn in on January 23, 2019, by Fred W. Davis, attorney and University of Louisiana at Lafayette professor. In addition to becoming a Notary Public, she has received 52 hours of Continuing Legal Education credits in substantive law and legal ethics to maintain and renew her Certified Paralegal (CP®) designation in 2021.
She received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, ABA-approved Certificate of Completion for the two-year Paralegal Studies Program from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and completed the Certified Paralegal (CP®) courses and examinations given by the National Association of Legal Assistants, which is a nationwide certification credential for paralegals that sets a professional standard by the NALA regulatory institution. Ms. Rhodes has worked in the legal field, primarily in insurance defense litigation, for 34 years before changing the course of her employment to Fenstermaker. Her past employers include various small law firms in her early career, State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company in-house counsel (15 years) and Onebane Law Firm (16 years). She was awarded a scholarship by the Lafayette Paralegal Association in February of 2018 for continuing education in the business and legal fields.
