Devin Foil, AICP, CFM Joins the Fenstermaker Team As Senior Planner

As a company that’s passionate about designing and developing urban areas that truly meet the needs of their surrounding communities, C.H. Fenstermaker & Associates is pleased to welcome Devin Foil, AICP, CFM, to the team. Devin will bring years of experience in floodplain management, community planning, and climate adaptation planning to the team in his new role as Senior Planner.

Devin arrived at his career as an urban planner in a roundabout way. After growing up all along the Gulf Coast, Devin moved to Washington, DC to major in Asian Studies at George Washington University. After earning his Bachelor’s degree, Devin accepted a teaching position in China, where he lived for two years. Watching the rapid urbanization going on there at the time, Devin became fascinated with how urban areas were planned and developed. He returned to the States to study Urban Planning at the University of New Orleans. After earning his Masters of Urban and Regional Planning (MURP) in 2018, Devin launched a new career around his passion.

Prior to joining Fenstermaker, Devin spent most of the last decade deepening his skills in post-disaster planning, stormwater management, climate adaptation, public engagement, and community planning.

His laser-focused skill set, positive energy, and passion for urban planning that truly improves communities is a perfect fit for the New Orleans office under Engineer Manager, Anna Wyble Doucet, P.E.

Devin holds a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of New Orleans. He holds AICP certification from the American Planning Association and certification in Floodplain Management in the state of Louisiana.

In his free time, Devin enjoys indulging his love of storytelling by taking in a good book or catching a movie. He’s also an avid podcaster on topics surrounding urban planning, and – as a lifelong lover of the sport – participates in a high-octane, over 30, recreational soccer league.

Devin also serves as a Board Member for the local chapter of the American Planning Association and for the Water Collaborative of Greater New Orleans. From his college studies and years of teaching in China, Devin is proficient in Mandarin.
