It brings us great pride to announce that Bradford Millett, a seven-year Engineering Intern here at Fenstermaker, has earned her Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) Designation in the state of Louisiana. Bradford is the 8th woman in the state to earn this designation, becoming one of only five Louisiana women who are actively practicing in their capacity as Licensed Land Surveyor.
Prior to beginning her professional career with Fenstermaker, Bradford earned a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Louisiana. She took surveying classes whenever possible as part of earning her degree. Her father—a mechanical engineer—encouraged her to become a Professional Licensed Surveyor, noting that Louisiana was in great need of them and that few women had earned this designation. Bradford agreed and set it as a long-term goal.
Bradford’s career at Fenstermaker began as an Engineering Intern in the Engineering Department, working with Travis Bodin, PLS, PMP, until 2018. She was able to combine her training in civil engineering with hands-on survey-based work, further reinforcing her commitment to becoming a PLS. When Travis made a shift to the Survey Division, Bradford transferred along with him as he had become her mentor. Now, two years later, Bradford has satisfied all requirements from LAPELS and has achieved her goal.
Surveying has proved to be a great match for Bradford’s personality and work/life balance as a busy mom. She loves that surveying brings her into projects just as they’re beginning, as part of the critical path, and then moves her on quickly to a different project, keeping her challenged and at the top of her game.
Travis, now Vice President of our Survey & Mapping Division, has this to say about Bradford: “Since the day Bradford was hired, I knew we had added an exceptional person to our team. Her ability to grasp survey concepts, absorb knowledge and perform alongside some of the top engineering and survey professionals in the business is unique. I am so excited to witness her growth in her career to this point. I look forward to what the future holds for her as we move forward with our ‘Fenstermaker 2.0’ culture.”
Congratulations, Bradford! We’re so proud to have you on our team.
