It is with great pride and excitement that Fenstermaker announces the recent promotion of Austin Doucet, P.E. to Engineering Office Manager of our Lake Charles office. With this move, Austin brings eight years of civil engineering experience to the city where he was born and raised.
Austin began his career with Fenstermaker in 2017 while still a student at University of Louisiana at Lafayette. After graduating two years later, Austin continued with the company as Engineering Intern, expanding his responsibilities while also swiftly engaging the process of earning his P.E. designation. His varied skill set, enabling seamless transitions from complex analyses to client management and community engagement, allowed Austin to make a deep impact on water resources projects throughout the state. He attributes much of his development to his manager and mentor, Jeanne Hornsby, M.S., P.E., CFM, saying:
“I’ve had the privilege of working under Jeanne Hornsby, one of our Directors of Engineering. She has guided me in many different ways—to be a leader, a project manager, a client manager, and a technical engineer in water resources—all that and more.”
With a drive to enhance both his knowledge and leadership abilities, Austin completed his P.E. exam in 2023, ahead of the usual timeline. This achievement, along with a demonstrated progression of experience, led to him earning the status of Professional Engineer in January 2024. Austin’s energy, eagerness to learn, and multifaceted talents have made him a standout contributor in many key projects, including:
Regarding his new position, Engineering Director, Jeanne Hornsby, P.E., CFM, shared:
“I have had the great opportunity to watch Austin grow throughout his career here at Fenstermaker. He began working for me as a college student intern, and it gives me immense joy to see employees like Austin develop their skills and gain confidence as they take on new roles and challenges. He will bring many great things to our Lake Charles clients and staff as their new operations manager.”
As the Engineering Office Manager in Lake Charles, Austin will oversee office operations, including personnel management, project oversight, and business growth. At just 27 years of age, this promotion marks a significant accomplishment and steppingstone for Austin, whose ultimate ambition is to make a positive impact on the company, his colleagues, and the communities he works to improve. He credits his success to God, family, and his extended Fenstermaker family:
