It brings us great pleasure to announce that Justin Bordelon, Advanced Technology Manager here at C. H. Fenstermaker & Associates, L.L.C., has earned his Professional Land Surveyor license in the state of Louisiana.
When Justin began his career with Fenstermaker in July of 2006, he had completed roughly two and a half years of college. Typical of a Bronze Star military veteran, Justin hit the ground running, conducting underwater acoustic investigations, hydrographic surveys, bridge inspections, and later managing field survey teams across Louisiana and Texas.
Continuing his education was always a dream of Justin’s, although at times this seemed an impossible goal. Between his demanding work schedule and family life at home, finding the time to study would be challenging. With the support of his supervisor, Andrew Titcomb, SIT, Director, Advanced Technologies-Houston, and encouragement from upper management, Justin made steady progress over the years. In 2009, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He didn’t stop there.
While life and work kept him busy and fulfilled, Justin simultaneously continued his pursuit of Professional Land Surveyor licensure in the state of Louisiana. In December of 2021, the Louisiana Professional Engineering & Land Surveying Board (LAPELS) congratulated Justin as he placed the final piece of the puzzle, gaining his PLS. We could not be more proud.
Travis Bodin, MBA, PLS, PMP, Vice President, Survey & Mapping, had this to say about Justin’s achievement: “Justin is an amazing person, colleague, and friend. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to obtain a college degree, raise a family, pursue career goals, coach junior level employees, and work a full-time job. Over the years Justin has not only accomplished all this, but he made it look easy. His passion for the profession shows in everything he does, and he has quickly made a name for himself as one of the future leaders in the profession. It is an honor to congratulate him on this milestone in his career.”
Michael Marine, PMP, Operations Leader, Survey Office, also expressed his congratulations, saying: “Justin’s continued dedication to professional development sets a prime example of our Growth Mindset here at Fenstermaker. This journey for licensure began years ago and took many sacrifices for Justin, which makes it even more impressive. We look forward to the continued journey ahead for him as a Professional Land Surveyor, and we congratulate him on this monumental achievement!”
Andrew Titcomb, Justin’s direct supervisor, added, “He worked very hard, and he deserves the recognition.” Justin also points to Fenstermaker luminaries like Charles Fenstermaker, President, John Fenstermaker, PLS, Vice President, Business Development, as some of his biggest supporters, who continually challenged him to achieve his goals. Justin likewise noted the direct mentorship and support from other surveyors in the Fenstermaker fold, including Leroy Gary, PLS, Bradford Millett, PLS, E.I., Ricardo Johnson, PLS, and the late Lolly Brasseaux, PLS, who provided guidance and encouragement.
Now that Justin has proven the success that comes with steady progress, the floodgates have opened for him. He plans to continue learning and gaining certification in key areas for our Fenstermaker team, including hydrographer’s certification and PLS licensure in the state of Florida. Justin is also driven by his passion for rebuilding vulnerable coastal land in Louisiana.
“I’m really passionate about the Coastal Restoration work that we do. I really get engaged in trying to build up and improve our coasts so that Louisiana remains a place that our children and their children can enjoy.”
