Fenstermaker Welcomes Graduate Engineer Achutam Baral

C.H. Fenstermaker & Associates, L.L.C. is proud to welcome Achutam Baral, EIT to the firm’s Engineering Division. Mr. Baral, a Graduate Engineer specializing in water resources, is now serving in an instrumental capacity on the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury’s Regional Watershed Planning Project, which is part of the overarching Louisiana Watershed Initiative.

Director, Jeanne Arceneaux Hornsby, MS, P.E., C.F.M., shared, “We are excited to add Achutam to our Water Resources team. With a master’s degree and varied background experience, he is contributing immensely to our efforts focused on municipal and state projects. He will undoubtedly encounter ample opportunity to further apply his expertise as he engages more deeply with our engineers. We welcome Achutam to Fenstermaker and look forward to all that we can accomplish together.”

Mr. Baral earned his Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette along with his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Tribhuvan University in Kathmandu, Nepal. He demonstrates superior knowledge in the areas of advanced hydrology, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, open channel flow, probabilistic methods in hydro-science, coastal science, solid waste and wastewater management, data analysis and engineering project management and the study of GIS applications in environmental science.

While working at the university as a Graduate Research Assistant, Mr. Baral developed his thesis: “Modeling the effects of Toledo Bend Reservoir on Downstream Flood Characteristic in the Lower Sabine River Basin.”Early in his career, Mr. Baral was a Junior Hydrologist/Water Resources Engineer at the Full Bright Consultancy (Pvt.) Ltd. Kathmandu, in Nepal. During his tenure, he assisted in data collection, sampling, and statistical analysis of precipitation field data of the 496-mile Kankai River basin for the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) in Nepal.

Mr. Baral is a licensed Engineer Intern in the State of Texas and is an Associate Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
