April 2021
This multidisciplinary project consists of engineering design services for the construction of the extension of Coach Williams Drive to connect to Houston River Road (LA 379) in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana. This road will be approximately 3 miles in length and will be designed as a 2-lane open ditch urban collector. This roadway design is complex in nature, as the roadway will be built through primarily wet terrain and will likely traverse over abandoned borrow pits. In addition, this proposed roadway will also cross the Sabine River Irrigation Canal as well as an operating railroad spur. The construction will also include a new roundabout at the intersection of Coach Williams Drive and Old Spanish Trail.
In addition to being the prime engineering firm for the project, Fenstermaker also performed environmental assessments prior to design, drainage design, pavement design, and the geometrics of the road. This included performing quality assurance and quality control on the wetland delineation data, report preparation and permitting. The Environmental Division is also securing the USACE Jurisdictional Determination and USACE Permits for jurisdictional wetland and water impacts.
The Survey Division provided topographic surveying, generated the right-of-way and servitude plats, and coordinated abstracting. Furthermore, Fenstermaker’s team of inspectors will provide construction inspection services.
