Fenstermaker’s Engineering team incorporates smart roundabouts to increase transportation safety and provide clients with concepts and designs that enhance communities. Providing municipalities with intuitive solutions to transportation concerns, Fenstermaker engineers plan and design roundabout projects based on the needs of the community.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation – Federal Highway Administration, roundabouts have been proven safer and more efficient than other types of intersections. “The FHWA Office of Safety identified roundabouts as a Proven Safety Countermeasure because of their ability to substantially reduce the types of crashes that result in injury or loss of life. Roundabouts are designed to improve safety for all users, including pedestrians and bicycles.”

Engineering Director and roundabout specialist Dax Douet, P.E. says, “No two roundabouts are the same. Each is designed to facilitate the desired management of traffic as set forth by the client based on the needs of the community. Functionality and safety are always at the forefront of the project with amenities and aesthetics incorporated so that each project is unique.”

To date, Fenstermaker is working on or have completed 24 roundabouts for various municipalities and the Louisiana Department of Transportation.
