Fenstermaker performed the preliminary design and analysis of the proposed roundabout at Churchpoint Road and Roddy Road in Ascension Parish. The preliminary design was performed in compliance with LA DOTD design guidelines set forth in EDSM VI.1.1.6 (Roundabout Design), and the analysis was performed in compliance with EDSM VI.1.1.5 (Roundabout Study and Approval).

During analysis of the project, Fenstermaker evaluated the constructability and operational feasibility of the possible construction of a roundabout at the Churchpoint Road and Roddy Road intersection. Reasonable and feasible project concepts were developed along with an estimated construction cost for each concept. Fenstermaker also determined the right-of-way acquisition and utility relocation costs. The traffic analysis included utilization of the software SIDRA to compare the efficiency and safety of a stop controlled intersection, signalized intersection, and roundabout. Safety data was collected for a three year period and used in the analysis of avoidable crashes at the intersection.
